Welcome to our website!

You've arrived at the website for See Spot Run and the Boulder City Dog Park!

Many thanks to ALL of our supporters!

On-Site Construction Storage Containers

We’re currently on the hunt for two of these to use while the dog park is under construction!

Once the permits are approved and the grading has taken place, we’ll want to have quite a bit of on-site storage available so that we can start having our materials delivered and ready for the construction crews.

These containers are 8 feet high and 8 feet wide and FORTY feet long…which seems like more room than we would ever need, right?  But figuring out the square footage that gives us…we can’t even fit all of the fencing material in that!

So now we’re looking for two…if you know of anyone who has access to these types of containers and can provide them as a donation or at a discount — Kathy Hicks would love to hear from you at 702-635-8470.  The more we need to spend on construction costs is the less we have to spend on park features…so every donation helps a lot!

Permit Process Update

The plans for our dog park must be approved by five different departments of Boulder City, as well as by Century Link and Southwest Gas and each time any one of those entities requests a change, the plans must make another complete round.  Needless to say, it takes quite a bit of time to get through this process!

The current change that has been requested is for us to have an electrical engineer design an electrical panel and submit it for approval.  One of See Spot Run’s Board Members has been working with an electrical engineer volunteer to contact the city’s engineer and take care of this for us.

We are hoping that this MIGHT be the last set of plans that then needs to circulate around for approval and we are fortunate enough for that to be the case, our General Contractor will apply for a Dust Control Permit to be placed on-site.

Once we have that in place, we will be able to pull together all of the entities involved for an enormous meeting to coordinate the ground breaking on our dog park!

Reminder: No 2nd Saturday Meeting – July 2010

Just a reminder that we are on Summer Break and there will be no Second Saturday meetings for the months of June, July or August! Have a great one and we’ll see you on the second Saturday in September!

Surveying Info

A gentleman named Bill Avery is our fabulous surveyor and will continue to play an integral role in the completion of the dog park.

Just one of Bill’s future tasks takes place as soon as the permits have been approved, which is when he’ll go out to the dog park site and mark the land for the grading of the earth into a level surface.  He’ll mark the areas that are too high and the ones that are too low so that the bulldozer operators know what to do.

Once the ground is level, he’ll mark where our trenches go for irrigation, trees, fence posts, shade shelters, etc….so it will be quite a large and important task and we’re very glad to have him on board.

For future updates on the surveying efforts at the dog park, just enter the word “surveying” into the Search function!

Update: Final Planning Underway

Plans for our dog park have been reviewed by the various Boulder City departments involved, as well as by Century Link and Southwest Gas.  Each has made notes for approvals, changes and corrections, and the plans are once more in the hands of our civil engineer, Scott Anderson, who will refine the plans for final submission and permits.

The final construction schedule is still uncertain, but there is no doubt that we have moved into the final planning phases.

Volunteers will be helping with many aspects of this project and See Spot Run is exploring every creative opportunity to stretch our budget as far as possible.  See Spot Run is obtaining final quotes for landscape materials, shade shelters, fence materials and installation.  If you know of an inexpensive and reliable source for any of these, please contact Margaret at 293-5290.
